Ground Turkey Sloppy Joes (DF)

Eat this Ground Turkey Sloppy Joe recipe for lunch or dinner and know that you are eating something nutritious and delicious!

Makes: 4 servings

Prep time: 10 mins

Cook time: 15 mins

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped

  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped

  • 1/2 cup carrot, chopped

  • 1.5 pounds ground turkey

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1/2 tbsp paprika

  • 3 cloves garlic

  • 1 can tomato sauce

  • 1/4 cup ketchup

  • 4 buns or sweet potatoes

  • Optional: add guacamole as a topping

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Heat a pan to medium heat, spray with oil, and sauté until translucent. Add the peppers and carrots, sauté until softened.

  2. Add the ground turkey and cook it until browned.

  3. Add the remaining ingredients, mix well, turn down to a simmer and let it sit for at least 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld together.

  4. Serve as a stuffed sweet potato or on a bun of your choosing! 

  5. Pairs well with a side salad or homemade potato wedges!
