FITTRAX and ATHLEISURE COLLECTIVE teamed up to share our top 13 tips for you to create a bountiful weekly menu at home! Enjoy these tips and let us know if you have questions.
Get inspired!
Save fun, good-looking recipes you want to try. We have lots of ideas on our Fuel Your Body - Pinterest Board.
Start to do some researching.
You can find some great resources on Instagram, Pinterest, Bon Appetit Online Magazine, on Food Blogs, and etc.
Find out what others like to eat whom live with you.
Getting ideas from the kids, your spouse, or roommates can help you think of what to make.
Follow seasons and weather.
“Is today a good day for hot soup or is it more of a grilled burgers type of day?”
Start to build your own recipe journal of all the things you make.
Keep track of your recipes to bring back at later times or to change them up and make new ones.
Get organized.
Start a meal calendar and share it with the family and allow them to add their ideas as well.
Make it fun!
Create theme nights with the family... Italian Night, Dinner & A Movie Night, Taco Tuesday, etc.
Create you shopping list and choose a day to shop.
Make a list that has what you need for the next week and stick to it. Then find a day each week that allows you to beat the crowds (weekdays are best) and get all the things off your list.
Check for online sales and coupons you can use in your menus.
It’s great to find sales, buy in bulk, save ingredients, and build a stocked pantry for the meals you have during the weeks to come. Planning ahead helps with this!
Make larger meals.
Plan to make larger meals and extras so you can reuse them for a left-over night. This will save you time as well!
Get to work!
Prep your foods as soon as you can and ahead of time. Chop your veggies, wash lettuces, shred cheese, etc. and place in containers so that when it comes time to cook you’ve already got a head start.
Use components in several areas throughout your week.
Make a big batch of tomato sauce and use it for Pizza Night, then again for Lasagna another day, or Chicken Cacciatore later in the week, or jar it up and freeze it. Roast a whole chicken for Shredded Chicken Enchiladas one night, Sandwiches throughout the week, and then use the bones to make a rich broth for soups and sauces.
Keep a well-stocked pantry.
It's easier to plan and create meals with a well-stocked pantry and when you’re not running out of crucial items. Have spices, sauces, marinades, oil, fresh herbs, lemons all handy and stocked up.
Here is a weekly planner to track your meals. Have fun with it!
