Staying Positive During The Fall & Winter Months

Fall and winter are known for being dark, rainy, cold, and some might say depressing… BUT it doesn’t have to be that way! There are ways you can change your mindset and learn to stay POSITIVE during these cold and rainy days! Here are some tips and tricks to keep yourself motivated and positive!

STAY ACTIVE

Keeping a daily & weekly ROUTINE of staying active is one of the most important things you can do for your body and mind. Just because the weather is changing, doesn’t mean your routine needs to! During the summer months we all try to get outside and go hiking, paddle boarding, walking, etc. During the fall and winter we might not be able to go be active outside, but we can still be active indoors. This is a great time to work on your STRENGTH training, try a new group MINDFUL MOVEMENT class, or practice your daily YOGA at home! On days that are nice, get outside and go for a walk, hike, run, or bike ride! PS even doing these activities in the cold and rain can be super positive for you too!!


EMBRACE THE NEW SEASON

There are many things that we enjoy during fall & winter that we don’t get to the rest of the year! The first thing is the actual CHANGE in seasons! Take time to enjoy the crispy fall air and how the scenery of the outdoors changes to beautiful new colors. This is also a great time to get outside and enjoy the weather! The mornings are crisp but the afternoons are full of SUNSHINE and comfortable temperatures.


SPEND TIME WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS

Not only is it important for you to regularly check in on yourself, its also important to check in on family and friends! Make it a priority to get together with your family and friends every couple weeks and go do a FUN activity where everyone can be included!

Here are some fun activities you can do in large or small group settings:

DINNER PARTY

Try once a week or month… you can even change who’s house will host! Make it fun, bring your favorite boards, make it a theme, or trade of cooking!

MOVIE NIGHT

Everyone brings their favorite popcorn topping, blanket, and pillow to enjoy a movie together!

TRY A NEW RESTAURANT

Have everyone write down a new restaurant to try on a piece of paper and pick the restaurant out of a hat!

ATTEND A CLASS

There are so many fun options… charcuterie making, cooking, baking, dancing, terrarium (plants), painting, fitness, etc.

GO TO A CONCERT

Your favorite artist is coming to town? Ask all your friends or family to go with you!


LEARN A NEW HOBBY

Instead of aimlessly scrolling or watching TV, do something that will keep your mind active and embrace a new hobby! This doesn’t have to be something that’s expensive or even takes up a lot of your time. It could be an activity that just keeps you busy for a couple hours during the day. Some hobbies you can explore for the fall and winter time are are: playing chess, reading a new book series, and making holiday crafts.

It is NEVER too late to start something that you have always wanted to try!

You’ve been wanting to join a gym but just haven’t had time during summer? Now is the time, go get signed up and get a trainer or go with a friend!


PAUSE & RELAX

Lastly, PAUSE & RELAX! Sometimes we think winter was created to slow us down and give us time to relax. It is totally ok and NORMAL to want to spend some time unwinding, relaxing, and just enjoying a more slowed down pace. This is what this season is all about!!

It’s also a great time to sit down and go over your GOALS and ACHIEVEMENTS you have met throughout the year. You can also take this time to start MANIFESTING your goals for the next year!


Keeping your body in motion, embracing the changing season, spending time with family & friends, learning a new hobby, and remembering to pause and relax are all things you can implement into your life this fall & winter!
